I don’t believe that it is morally correct for humans to clone animals. It goes completely against the way of nature. We have never needed to clone animals in the past so why must we start now? The Life Cycle is quite simple; born, grow, die – and thus I don’t see why people would clone their dead pet to ‘get it back’, because no…you are not getting the same pet back. Yes losing a pet hurts, but it is part of life and perfectly natural, you can’t just keep pretending that the pet didn’t die because you have a clone.
I don’t see a point to cloning, people say that it is to prevent the extinction of animals – but surely just creating farms where they can be breed is a much better and cheaper alternative…a natural alternative. Death is a part of life and people need to learn to live with that, not try to bring loved ones back.
I have read arguments which stated that cloning would be beneficial in the research for cures to diseases such as Cancer and Alzheimer's, and I accept the point that this could save a lot of human lives, but how many would suffer and die from testing these treatments? As one disease is cured, another one is ready to play havoc with our immune systems; after all, none of us will live forever.
My main concern with cloning is that animal cloning will clearly move on to things such as humans, which is just as morally wrong. Humans have no right to play ‘God’ and create or edit life artificially. Cloning humans will again result in loved ones being cloned, which sure has a few advantages but it isn’t ethical and is against nature. Nature should not be altered, and cloning humans just wouldn’t work in the long run – Would the clone have the same name as the deceased? Would the deceased still be buried and visited in the graveyard, or just forgotten because of the new clone?
Another thing I have read is that in the future Researchers want to try and recreate Dinosaurs – well…surely every one can see that no good would come of that? They are extinct for a reason; we evolved for a reason. What would we do after we had cloned the Dinosaurs? Keep them as pets until they got too big? What? There is no real reason or benefit to cloning animals and there is always another alternative.
Same goes for curing diseases – we don’t need to clone animals to cure diseases when we can find a cure another way. Editing DNA is unethical and unnatural. No good will come from cloning and it should be banned. Many of the animals who are cloned end up dying or having deformities. Yet, people complain about animal testing? Surely cloning is a form of animal testing, because at the moment the animals are testing whether or not it is safe for humans to be cloned. They are the guinea pigs. They are suffering for no real reason or purpose.
In my personal opinion cloning, animal or otherwise, is unethical and goes against nature in every way possible…

I totally agree. Cloning is wrong and should be stopped at all costs.
You create an excellent argument here, although a very biased one. One can't just state all the cons and simply deny the pros of this technology. The ability to clone animals brings with it the possibilities and abilities to eradicate hereditary diseases within animals.
It can also assist scientists to breed identical animals for research, therefore having the possibility to lead the way to a new era in animal health care, with the development of better methods for detecting, preventing and treating animal diseases.
Yes, many believe that creating a life form is unnatural, however through Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer, the process (after insertion into the surrogate) is almost identical to what occurs under natural reproduction.
And remember, although the clone has no choice in whether they are born, does any one really? Did you or I have a choice when our parents engaged in coitus? Or if they used an alternative method such as IVF? All life on Earth had no say in whether they wanted to be a part of life.
In conclusion, the quality of stock will increase and the medical advancements will only improve our current living standards. No matter what the technology, all biotechnology comes with issues and concerns, mostly from the religious community, and none of these issues should be ignored.
Lastly, and yet again, consider both the pros and cons! I can agree this technology of cloning animals comes with ethically right and wrong issues, though neither one is more important than the other.
Cheers!

cloning is right
even though i love the idea of cloning but what i've just read i totally agree with SOOOOOO much!
