What Do I Need For Law School?

This is one of the most common questions asked by students who will soon be starting out in Law School, and the answer is very similar for every student starting university, regardless of what course or degree they are taking.

The basics depend on whether you are moving out of your parent’s house, so let’s have a look at what you need if you are moving out for the first time:

• Appliance Chargers
• Bathroom Appliances (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Towels, etc)
• Bedding
• Coffee Machine/Kettle
• Clothes
• Desk Lamp
• Microwave

Students starting university will generally need the same supplies for studying, these include:

• Alarm Clock
• Bag (Suitable for carrying heavy books)
• Books
• Diary/Journal
• Dictionary/Thesaurus
• Laptop/Netbook
• Mobile Phone
• Paper (Lined and Blank)
• Printer and Ink Cartridges
• Ring Binders/Folders
• Stationery (Pens, Pencils, Pencil Case, Highlighters, Staples, Paper Clips)
• USB Drive

Unnecessary but useful items include:

• Comfortable Reading Chair

This is by no means an exclusive list – it is my recommendation on fundamental supplies needed for studying a course at degree level. Be sure to use a checklist when preparing to move house and avoid leaving packing until the last-minute, as you may find items which you would have forgotten otherwise.
