Online shopping has hit an all time high and it is easy to understand why when you look at the advantages of doing business online. Whilst there may be some minor drawbacks to operating online, these don’t affect everyone and for the most part shopping online is much faster and easier than traditional shopping.
Shopping online allows you to compare prices from hundreds of store with just once click. You can search stores that you may not have knew existed before as well as comparing prices between bigger brands. Comparing prices online saves a lot of money in the long run and is very simple to do. There are even dedicated websites which will help you compare the prices of different products including the delivery fee. Some of these websites include; Compare the Market, Money Supermarket and My Supermarket.
Online stores are open pretty much 24/7, allowing you to make purchases when it suits you and not when it suits the store. Being able to shop at anytime allows you to spend more time with your family or friends as you can do the shopping late at night when they have left; this leaves you with much more spare time on your hands and means that you don’t have to spend your Saturday evenings dragging the family around the supermarket before you can find something to cook!
A common problem with traditional shopping is that you have to spend a good amount of time looking for a parking space, then queuing up to buy your food before finding your car again and hitting the busy roads in order to get home, however now with many websites offering to deliver your purchases to your doorstep you can spend more time doing what suits you. You don’t have to go out and queue up in order to get the latest fashion or groceries for lunch as they will be brought to you, allowing you to avoid that rush hour traffic and have an extra hour in bed! Having your shopping delivered also means that you don’t have to worry about carrying it home or fitting it all into your car.
You will also find many things through online stores which you would never have found in your local supermarket or store. Online shopping allows you to buy personalised items as well as antiques which would be hard to find and very expensive to purchase traditionally. You can also make purchase items from different countries which may not be sold in your own, allowing you access to a much wider and unique market than ever before.
Although many stores will now accept credit cards you may still find a few smaller stores will only accept traditional payments in the form of paper or coins. This can be a real hassle as you have to ensure that you have the correct change, or make an added journey to the bank if you don’t. Online shopping allows you to pay in a variety of ways, using a variety of credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal and other methods.
Overall online shopping is now much easier and safer than ever before, allowing people all around the world more choice in what they buy and normally for a much cheaper price than traditional stores. I certainly know how I would rather spend my afternoon; queuing up in a store to buy groceries…? No thank you, I would much rather be sitting on the couch after ordering my shopping and waiting for it to delivered as I drink a nice hot cup of tea!
